Jon: Yoga with Nicky – A real pain in the…Like most men, I was 100% cynical about yoga. Long bearded hippies talking about inner karma, transic journeys, pulses and tie died t-shirts… no thanks. I’ll stick to a proper sport. Ironic then, that it was 15 years of a ‘proper sport’ that left me with lower back pain that I just couldn’t shift. I had tried pain killers, chiropractors and osteopaths, all gave me some relief but the problem still remained. Then, by pure fluke, a friend suggested we try yoga with Nicky. Apart from my credibility & self respect, what did I have to lose?
After nearly 12 months of Yoga with Nicky my lower back pain has been reduced, I feel greater flexibility and a tad more relaxed in myself.
Like most blokes I know, life is demanding. For me, taking 1 hour a week to practice calm and release the tensions that can build up is a crucial part of well being. Nicky is a great teacher and advocate in this regard. I’m never going eat lentils or wear a kaftan but I do look forward to my weekly yoga session.
If you’re male aged 35 – 50, chances are you put yourself under too much pressure. But you know this. It’s why you allow yourself to hate, drink, shout or maybe hit things. If none of these things are working (and be honest, they’re probably not) maybe you should call Nicky.
